The former head of the nation’s ministry of finance kemi Adeosun recently turned in her resignation letter prompted by findings affirming that the allegations that her National youth service certificate was a phony are indeed true, some months ago news surfaced that her NYSC certificate was fake but she insists that she was oblivious of that fact prior to those findings and that it was indeed this same fake certificate that she has been using to obtain plush and high level appointments including the much revered position of minister of finance of the country under the buhari administration.
Although she has in her own words explained that she was completely oblivious of the mendacity (falsehood) of the certificate in question. But be it as it may, one would wonder, especially those of us who claim to have some level of consciousness for the the constitution, if ignorance has now suddenly become an excuse in the eyes of the law, I would hope that it isn’t the case, except if we were to invoke the much applied double standard with which the Buhari administration has been using to assess other individuals and groups of his party and those of other parties (PDP and others), and Of course after reading such a letter, it leaves me to ponder on the question which one patriotic Nigerian recently asked, “that if she had known the certificate was fake before resuming office, would she have indeed turned down a highly coveted position assuming there was nobody to compel her to resign as her display of ‘innocence’ indicates”?.
One can only imagine!!!
